BRA CALCULATOR

Various studies suggest that up to 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size. We thought every woman should know about it and know how to fix it!

You should measure while in a well fitting non-padded bra or in the nude. (Measure in Inches; Tape should be snug.)

Follow detailed instructions below for best accuracy!

Wrap the tape around your ribcage, just below the bust. Exhale fully, then record.
Same position — but inhale as deeply as you can, then record.
Stand upright and wrap the tape across the fullest part of your bust and around your back, under your arms.
Bend forward at the waist so your breasts hang naturally, then measure across the fullest part.

    Steps 1 & 1A — Band Measurement

    • Step 1: Wrap the measuring tape firmly around your ribcage, just below your bust — where the band actually sits. Keep the tape horizontal and snug but comfortable. Breathe out fully, then record. Round to the nearest quarter inch (30.25, 30.5, 30.75, etc.).
    • Step 1A: Same position — breathe in as deeply as you can and record that measurement the same way.

    Steps 2 & 2A — Bust Measurement

    • Step 2: Wrap the tape firmly and snugly at the fullest part of your bust and around your back, under your arms, while standing. Record the number.

    • Step 2A: Repeat the bust measurement while bent over at the waist, letting your breasts hang. Use a firm measurement for accuracy.

How Bra Size Is Calculated

Your traditional bra size is made up of two parts: a band size (a number) and a cup size (a letter). The calculator works in three steps to find your traditional size, then maps you to the Wear Love More sports bra size that fits your shape best.

  1. Find your band size. Average your two underbust measurements (exhaled and inhaled) and round to the nearest whole inch. If the result is odd, round up to the next even number — most US bras come in even band sizes only.
  2. Find your bust measurement. Average your standing and bent-over bust measurements and round to the nearest whole inch. The bent-over measurement is included because it captures full breast tissue that the standing measurement can miss.
  3. Subtract band from bust to get cup size. Each inch of difference equals one cup. 1″ = A, 2″ = B, 3″ = C, 4″ = D, 5″ = DD/E, 6″ = DDD/F, 7″ = G, 8″ = H.

Example: A 33″ underbust averages to a 34 band. A 38″ bust minus a 34 band leaves 4″ — that's a D cup. Final size: 34D, which the calculator then maps to your Wear Love More sports bra size.

Bra Size & Fit FAQ

How do I know if my sports bra fits correctly?

A well-fitting sports bra has a band that sits firm and level across your back — not riding up — with the bust fully contained, no spillage at the top or sides, and straps that support without digging into your shoulders. During activity, your bust should stay supported with minimal bounce.

What's the difference between traditional bra sizing and Wear Love More sizing?

Traditional bras use a band number (28, 30, 32, etc.) plus a cup letter (A, B, C, D, etc.) — for example, 34D. Wear Love More sports bras use letter sizes (X-Small, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, XXL, 3XL, 4XL) that combine band and cup into a single size. Our calculator translates your traditional size into the Wear Love More size designed to fit your shape, so you don't have to figure out the conversion yourself.

Why don't Wear Love More bras use traditional band and cup sizing?

Letter sizing makes sports bras easier to fit consistently across a wider range of body shapes and during activity, when fabric stretch and compression matter as much as static measurements. Our sizes are designed around the body proportions our calculator captures from your four measurements, so once you have your Wear Love More size you can order any of our styles without re-checking the size chart.

Why do I get a different bra size at different brands?

Brands use different sizing systems (US, UK, EU, and Japanese sizing all differ), different cup grading, and different fabrics. A 34D in one brand can fit like a 32DD or 36C in another. The Wear Love More calculator first finds your traditional US size, then maps it specifically to our sports bra fit — so the Wear Love More size we recommend is calibrated for our garments, not anyone else's.

Should I measure in a bra or without one?

Measure in a well-fitting, non-padded bra or in the nude. A padded or push-up bra will distort your bust measurement and give you a size that's too large.

Why does this calculator ask for two bust measurements (standing and bent over)?

Measuring standing alone often underestimates volume because breast tissue rests against your chest. Bending forward lets the tissue hang and reveals its true volume. Averaging both measurements produces a more accurate result — especially for fuller busts, or anyone who has previously been sized into a bra that felt too small.

What if I'm between two Wear Love More sizes?

If you'll be wearing the bra mostly for high-impact activity (running, HIIT, jumping), size down — the extra compression helps with support and minimizes bounce. If above a size large and between sizes, most women prefer a size down.

How often should I remeasure?

Remeasure every 6 to 12 months, and any time you experience weight changes, pregnancy or postpartum changes, hormonal shifts, or major fitness changes. Most women change bra size several times across adulthood, and a size that fit a year ago may not fit today.

One of the advantages of Wear Love More bras: because our letter sizing accommodates a range of traditional cup sizes within each size, minor bust changes often don't require a new bra. A traditional 34C, 34D, and 34DD might all fall into the same Wear Love More size — so a small fluctuation up or down a cup doesn't necessarily mean buying again. That makes our bras a more forgiving long-term investment through life's natural changes.
